Despite being a largely arid state, Arizona can boast 334 species of butterfly - more than 5 times the number found in Britain. With its rich diversity of habitats, many species can be seen without travelling too far.
Dragonflies of Arizona
Despite being famous as an arid state, Arizona has 146 known species of dragonfly (and damselfly) that call it home. These can be found from desert washes, all the way up to cool, mountain streams and woodlands.
